Ms. Worth
Welcome
Welcome to 8th grade Literacy & Writing!
A little about me:
I graduated high school locally and was recruited to play field hockey at the University of Maine. I graduated with my bachelor's degree in Secondary Education with a concentration in English. Prior to beginning my teaching career I worked in management positions in the fields of early childhood education, pediatric home care, and retail. Although I enjoyed and learned many things through these experiences my true passions have always been to teach and coach. I am a lover of all sports and anything that involves an outdoor adventure.
This school year, Literacy and Writing are two separate classes.
In both classes we will focus on the PA Department of Education State Standards.
In Literacy Class we will be focusing: Reading informational text, Reading literature, and Speaking and listening .
We will read several different types of texts including: novels, myths, short stories, fables, poetry, and articles. While reading these different types of texts we will focus on comprehension, analysis, vocabulary acquisition, making connections, and textual evidence.
In Writing Class we will be focusing on: Informative Writing, Argumentative Writing, Narrative Writing, Poetry, The Writing Process, Technology & Publication, Research, Sources, and Range of Writing.
If you would like to contact me via email please do so at: [email protected]
Sincerely,
Ms. Worth
